Play for a cure game scheduled for November 19th

Come out and cheer on a great group of former RI Hockey standouts as they "Play for a Cure" in support of Artie Saran and his fight against ALS.  Artie, a local player that starred at Lasalle Academy and then went on to play in the pros, is battling the biggest opponent of his life, ALS.

Skate for Artie !

Artie Saran is a local retired professional hockey player who got his start in hockey with the RI Saints and played for Lasalle Academy before moving on to chase his professional hockey dream.

His professional quest began in 1993 playing for the London Knights in the OHL(Ontario Junior Hockey League) before moving into the minor league ranks and finally making his mark with the Wichita Thunder of the CHL (Central Hockey League) in 1995.

Like most who followed their dream Arthur would give up his quest for professional hockey after a few seasons and return home to RI to start his career in business. Since his return Arthur was married and is the proud father to his son Arthur Jr.

Now at the age of 42, Artie is battling the biggest opponent of his life, ALS. Over the past two years since his diagnosis, the disease has taken a toll on his body but not his spirit. Arthur fights everyday and continues to show his strength and strong will and the belief that we will find a cure for ALS.

Please join Artie as he hosts some of the greatest hockey talent that the state of RI and New England has produced for his charity hockey game. Players like Bryan Berard (NHL rookie of the year 1997), Mark Eaton (Stanley cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins) and many other legends of New England Hockey as we play for a cure and for Artie.

Oh yeah, and don’t forget THE HANSON BROTHERS , from the hit movie Slap Shot will back again! The puck will drop on Sunday, November 19th at 1:00PM at Schneider Arena on the campus of Providence College. There will be great raffle prizes as well and any youth player wearing his/her jersey to the game will get in for free!!

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by contacting Andy Calcione on Facebook or by cell 401-286-8616
