RI Hockey is USA Hockey's Affiliate organization for Rhode Island. As the affiliate, RI Hockey is charged with overseeing USA Hockey within Rhode Island including:
- Association, team, and player registration
- General governance of USA Hockey Rules and policies
- Promotion and growth of hockey within Rhode Island
- Selection of District and National tournament representatives
- Selection of participants for player development camps and events
- Coaching education
- Sanctioning of tournaments and events
